UFC!

Tonight my cute hubby is inviting some friends over to watch the UFC. I am making a bunch of goodies for them and taking the kids out of their hair the whole night. It is part of his birthday present from a couple weeks ago. Doing nice things for your spouse sure does make ya feel good inside!

Scorpions and Spiders and Roaches Oh My!

First off I have to say I have loved the weather here in Vegas. It is always sunny and warm out. There have been some things about it here that I am not liking. For example, the health care is terrible. I have gone to a few pediatricians so far looking for a decent one, a couple of family doctors, and my woman doctor is proving to be as horrible as the others (not calling until a month later to tell me I needed antibiotics!). Also, the attitudes people have about living here has been discouraging. Why cant I just run into somebody who has something good to say??? Like I said, I have loved the weather ans also have loved the fact that we have been getting a lot of visitors. I love company! BUT I do HATE something about it here worse than the people and the health care and that is the BUGS! I had my first encounter with three cockroaches yesterday. While I was killing an enormous colony of red ants right on my back patio, three lightning fast roaches came out and quickly run up to the ceiling. I screamed like a girl, hurried Kingston inside and watched Chez and Josh kill the roaches. We got a flier in the mail also yesterday that showed us which bugs to watch out for here in the hot desert. One is the roach, another the black widow, ants, another type of spider, and most frightening (next to the black widow), the SCORPIONS! AHHH. I am so hoping we never run into one of those.

Aside from the bugs, we really are liking it here and we have a summer full of fun ahead of us. We just got a brand new patio set for our backyard, a swing, one of those above ground pools that is only 3 feet deep, and we are attending our third bbq/pool party this Sunday. Makenna is turning 1 in two weeks, Kingston will be attending an awesome preschool for the first time, we are (the Jones's) hoping to plan a trip to Disneyland here in a month or two, my birthday, 4th of July, and my parents and sister are coming to Visit me as well as attend my brother and his fiance's wedding here in Vegas in August. Fun stuff and I am excited!!

We are back!

Disney World was a blast. We stayed at probably the nicest resort I have ever stayed at which is saying a lot since we stayed at a Four Seasons in California a few years ago. You could take a little boat from the boardwalk of the resort to Epcot or Hollywood Studios or a bus from the resort to the Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom. The resort itself at a really cool pool with a water slide that Kingston loved. You could see the fireworks from the boardwalk (our resort was called the Boardwalk), and there was all sorts of fun shops and restaurants all along the boardwalk. You couldnt get bored. The first couple days we went to Seaworld and the Magic Kingdom. We did Hollywood Studios on day 3, Epcot and Magic Kingdom day 4, Animal Kingdom day 5, and Magic Kingdom day 6. We flew home on day 7 :(. I hated to leave the most magical place on earth. Kingston had the time of his life. I literally got choked up when I watched Kingston meet all the disney characters. He was in awe. We took tons of pictures. Hopefully we will be going to Disneyland in a month. We only live 4 hours from LA. I think I am addicted to Disney! My little souvenier from the trip is actually funny. The last night, I rode thunder mountain with King and Chez. For those of you who know that ride, you know how crazy the turns are. I made the mistake of sitting on the end with Chez next to me. We went around a corner and his body slammed against mine and it was like a snap! crackle! and pop! Then OUCH!! It was quite painful. A week later, I am very sore but I will be fine. The X-ray came out normal! haha. But while on the topic of Thunder Mt., I must say, that was Kingstons favorite. While everyone watched the fireworks show, Chez and Kingston stayed on the ride and never got off for like 45 minutes. The workers let them stay put and go around and around!

We leave for Orlando tomorrow! We are super excited. I am like a little speed deamon today. I have so much to do. We want our house looking specatular when we get home. Our new leather sectional and patio furniture are being delivered this afternoon, I am super cleaning the house, getting all the laundry done, and suit cases packed. Hopefully we will be able to come home to a clean, fresh house. In the meantime, bon voyage!

My Nightmare Coming True

Yesterday was not the ordinary day I thought it would be. Around noon my children and I heard rounds of gunfire go off. I ran to the window, saw two officers with their guns drawn and going off and i ran upstairs with the kids and hid in the master closet. I called Chez immediately to come home then my parents and my sister so that I could have them watch the news for me. I had no idea what was going on and I was terrified. The gun shots went off over and over and over for 3 hours. All I could do was keep calm to keep my kids from being scared. Kingston was such a brave boy. He played quietly with the toys that we thankfully had in our closet and Makenna nursed most of the time. She sensed something wasnt right. I called 911 twice. I heard helicopters over head. Chez was giving me updates over the phone because he was standing outside of the neighborhood with many other husbands who couldnt rescue their wives and children. I think Chez had it pretty bad. I just wanted to be with him but I knew it was impossible so I did all I could to stay calm. At times it was hard. I had no idea if there was a mad man on the loos shooting at random people. The officers were giving everyone false information and this I knew because I was in the middle of hearing everything. I finally snuck out to get the kids some snacks. I crawled down the stairs. I peeked out the window to see what was going on and the swat team was armed and standing outside of my neighbors house. The windows were busted through and what appeared to be blood on the window. I hurried back upstairs and then my alarm in my house went off. I called 911 and demanded they brought an offcier to the house to escort my small children and I asap. They had declined before but this was the last straw for me. At last I was reunited with Chez. I did a couple of interviews with both Fox 5 news las vegas and las vegas 13 news. We had to evacuate the neighborhood for a few hours. When we came back, Chez watched the police roll the dead body of the suspect out on a stretcher. I stayed in. I then learned that our across the street neighbor had been home with her two teenage daughters when it happened and bullets were going through her house. They spent 3 frightening hours on the kitchen floor hoping to save themselves from the gunshots. Their house is now filled with bullets and bullet holes in the walls and doors. Luckily we were one house from hers and escaped that nightmare. It was a frightening day and we are so thankful to be alive. go to las vegas 13 news and click on a video clip titled, neighbors trapped in the line of fire, to see me and Makenna interviewing. I was also on Fox 5 news as well as Chez but we cant find any online video for it.

At A Loss For Words!

Oh boy. Kids say the darndest things. It has happened before with Kingston. He once pointed out both Jesus and Santa at a Sizzler once night and another day, most embarrassing, he pointed to a heavier set woman of a different nationality and shouted, "cow moo!!". I thought that was the end of my mortifying "kids say the darndest things" with Kingston but yesterday proved otherwise. Earlier in the day Kingston had to come with me to my woman's doctor appointment because daddy was working. While there, he noticed a very pregnant lady and he was so proud to show me her baby in her tummy. That was cute. Little did I know, the cuteness a few hours later would turn into disaster. We headed to Walmart to pick up some groceries. Going down the refrigerater aisle, Kingston noticed a little girl walking with her siter, mom, and dad. He loves kids so he wanted to follow them. As I was reaching for a package of bacon, Kingston excitedly shouts to me, "mommy look, she has a baby in her tummy!" I immediately froze knowing that this little girl walking with her family was also a very obese little girl. Kingston kept happily shouting and pointing to this poor little girl's very round tummy. I slowly turned, gave the little girl an I am so sorry look, and hurried kingston into a corner where I explained to him that little girls cannot have babies in their tummies. Kingston looked very ashamed which also broke my heart because he felt so proud to have noticed a baby in someone's tummy. I was at a loss for words when it happened so I never said a word to the little girl or her family. I just hope she is okay. It was a very embarrassing moment. I later gave Kingston a hug, told him next time he thinks someone has a baby in their tummy he needs to ask me, and then I told him what a very good boy he is.
